Design Mindset
Design is a multi-faceted activity involving a sensitively orchestrated process. Our perspective is that the architect and client interact through meaningful dialogue which evolves into an understanding of project needs, concept development, and the formation of responsive architectural solutions.
Programming, essence, and contextual factors are integrally explored:
- Programming involves identifying needs and priorities, spatial organization, functions, building systems/materials, and budget/costs.
- Essence involves concept, form, image, brand/identity, and meaning.
- Contextual aspects include vernacular/cultural themes, site and community, along with energy and environmental sensitivities.
Our implementation of these factors helps to ensure design compatibility and integration, innovative concepts, and optimized solutions. Inspiration is often generated from program, site, locale, and cultural attributes. In turn, functionality, environmental responsiveness, and cost control are sensitively addressed.
The built environment has the inherent potential to transcend beyond its physical realm. Thus, there is an opportunity for architecture to not only serve as a solution, but also to significantly communicate at multiple levels.
Architecture is a by-product of culture. To experience architecture is to comprehend humanity with its complex interrelationships within the built environment.
