Oxford Academy

Oxford Academy, a unique school providing individualized education, is planning a series of five phases with the intent of spatial expansion and enhancement of the exterior facades of the main 19,905 s.f. Knight Hall building. FA is involved with orchestrating the project’s design development through planning, town approvals, construction documents, and administration during construction. The first phase includes a 713 s.f. music studio addition, followed by the second phase for a 1,180 s.f. expansion of the Knight Hall entry and administrative offices. The remaining three phases will include the exterior façade enhancements of designated building portions.

The design intent is to transform the existing Minimalist Late 20th Century Style into a contemporary interpretation of the New England Village Style incorporating subtle elements of Italianate, Greek Revival, and Farmhouse vocabulary. This is achieved through an assemblage of gable roof forms, porches, colonnades, shed roof overhangs, wide band trim, and other elements.
