Cassena Care at Norwalk
Norwalk, CT
This 90,791 s.f. skilled nursing facility project initially involved an ADA analysis/study and a Public Health Code analysis/study by FA, as required by the CT State Department of Public Health for Change of Ownership projects. Afterwards, client programming needs involved the major re-design of spaces including re-defining of functions and areas. A primary goal was to create a friendly and inviting residential flavor, eliminating the obsolete institutional character of the existing facility. Alterations resulted in a new entry façade and an administrative office wing with reception and waiting area. Additional re-designed spaces included physical therapy, lounges, resident care areas, nursing stations and support spaces. As a result, this healthcare center serves as a new responsive environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
