Rushford’s facility in Meriden houses comprehensive behavioral health prevention and treatment programs for children, adolescents, and adults. Due to the need for relocating departments from another facility as well as changing existing department requirements, FA was asked to review the existing spatial organization and programming data as an extensive existing space needs analysis for the 94,000 s.f. building.

The process involved interactive dialogue between FA, the design/building committee, along with the Rushford management. New concepts for spatial organization of departments and circulation, including new entry designs help to integrate inpatient and outpatient services along with administrative functions. Ultimately, this re-design helped to create a responsive facility for behavioral healthcare services.
