Cromwell Fire Station and Town Office Complex
Cromwell, CT
The Cromwell Fire Station and Town Office Complex accommodates the water division, fire marshal, and the fire station. FA initially did a feasibility study for renovating the original firehouse. Ultimately, this resulted in demolition and a new building. The 11,000 s.f. building includes a three-bay apparatus garage, offices, conference and community rooms, kitchen, and storage facilities.
The integration of architectural form, materials, scale, and details is intended to create a harmonious balance, and in turn, establish coherent relationships within the surrounding site context. The use of brick facades articulated by pre-cast concrete trim elements helps to unify the exterior composition. Furthermore, this detailing defines borders and structural elements as well as articulating door/window lintels and surrounds with a classical flavor.
